FANTASY NOVEL | Tofu The Ghost
“You know, we are all made of stardust, Tofu. Humans, witches, ghosts… Each and every one of us carries the light of the stars within. It is a silvery, fleeting shimmer and wherever we go, whatever we do, it’s always with us. Some kids think they lose that light when they grow up, but we can never lose it even if we want to. When my dad left, my mom thought she had lost that light too, but all she had to do was to look inside her! Close your eyes tight and look inside, Tofu. Look at the galaxy in yourself. Do you see it shimmer?”
Tofu the Ghost is a novel about a friendship that draws its inspiration from funfairs of the past, Monet the artist, Casper the Friendly Ghost, and poems by Edgar Allan Poe. It has three protagonists: Tofu the Ghost, his best friend Chia the Witch, and the little gothic poet Maya who joins them later in the story. The novel tells the story of three friends, the precarious bonds they make, and their effort to carry on no matter what.
Tofu the Ghost is the first novel of the Tofu series in which we witness the friendship between the characters. In the second novel, Chia the Witch learns how to cast dark spells, gets stronger, and turns to the “dark side”. Tofu and Maya team up to bring her back, and once again friendship and kindness win. The author, Zeynep Alpaslan plans to write the next titles of the series.
